Artist's Comments

Finally something I can post. (I've been buried in work that's been posted in mags that had me vow it won't see the likes of the internet...). This one was thankfully fitted for two purposes and will, at least, be printed in a magazine, and at most, hopefully earn me 200€. I was so tired from other work when I started this, that I didn't really do it to please the jury (for I know they're negatively inclined towards manga-ish things) but to get my point across, period. It could have been -drawn- better, but I'm pretty happy with it on the whole. O_O ~LucaVergerio's guidance is paying off - I think I improved some (FINALLY, HOT DAMN).

So, Slovenian Myths. 2 pages, b&w. While I think most people will tackle the subject by either choosing one legend or the other, I tried to tackle it from the general point of view. I, myself, am not particularly fond of Slovenian legends myself, but it's partly because nobody here cares to make them seem cool. So young people obsess over foreign stuff instead. Hopefully the introspective note this leaves is strong enough to have the reader give it a second thought...

Wow, I simply love the idea of the comic.

It's true, some cultures really tend to forget about how awesome their myths and legends are (Germany is no exception, especially because we have such a fecked up past >_>;). It's really cool to learn about other cultures' legends, for I am a real, well, sorta myth-nerd XD

And yay for updates! ^____^

Great to see you back. I was getting worried you'd been ill again. Glad to hear it's 'just' work.

Not much I can say about the art in itself. It's good (obviously) and a does a very good job of making what is essentially 'talking heads' interesting and dynamic.

The idea is great and I sorta hope we'll actually see more European legends comic-ified.

As an aside we're lucky enough to actually have that here in Denmark. A retelling of the Norse mythos with a humorous twist.

Matjaz (sorry, can't do the hacek) sounds ineteresting. Seems a lot of cultures have heroes like that (cf. Arthur in Britain and Holger the Dane in Denmark).

I think the reason that a lot of indigenous myths aren't as popular as foreign ones are is because we learn them as children, so they seem to as a children's stories when we get old enough to start taking an interest in mythologies beyond bedtime stories. It's like growing up to become an artist, but only using the same fingerpaints that you used as a pre-schooler. There's no appeal.

wooow .. not only that this is drawn so gooood 8D you have right.. myths are usually forgotten or don't care bcause they aren't cool.. not only slovenian but I think that everywhere myths are put a part .. and we all have awesome legends.. it's all in our imagination to make them cool or not ..

Without commenting on anything else, I'd like to say I really like the art's style. Nice work.
